Our aim at

is to help people
research the information they need and to enjoy
gathering that information on the internet.
When a person works for a long period of time
at the Australian Bureau of Statistics, what is he
interested in? Information, of course!
David Lewis has always been very interested in
information. He worked for some years in the Special
Surveys area of the Australian Bureau of Statistics,
which then led to working overseas for a few years.
Then there was research work in demography at the
University of Papua New Guinea. There were surveys
in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, and on
tropical islands, too. He was involved in the
collecting of Census data and even publishing a
monograph on one of the PNG Censuses.
From there, David returned to Australia, where he
began to train others in such topics as statistics,
basic survey design, principles of questionnaire
design and turning data into information.
He continued to run surveys in a number of areas
including health, child care and crime.
After that, he decided to branch out into new areas
and help other people research and enjoy gathering
information on the internet.
